Today, I'm going to share with you what is the best RGB light for filmmakers. By any means, I'm telling you that you should buy this light, but this is my honest review about the Yongnuo YN360 for you.
The first topic that we're going to talk about is the size. It's very compact, and doesn't take much space especially for me, a filmmaker on-the-go.
As you know, I live in a cruise ship, and for me it's a plus because I keep all my equipment in my suitcase, so I need to keep everything very compact. The Yongnuo YN360 is approximately 39.5 cm long. It comes with a very nice case. You can also use a 1/4-20 UNCLEAR on the bottom. You can put on a tripod if you need it, but if you have someone on your shoot, you can just ask them to hold it for you, and it's very light.
The battery is very good because you just need the Sony NPF batteries. I personally have a bunch, so it's very convenient for me. On the side, there is a little lock to give me an extra safety feature, so that I know that my battery is safe. It's not going to fall or anything like that.
The Yongnuo YN360 comes with four buttons. It's very easy, and very simple to use.
One of them is the 3200K, which is more of an orange warm look. The other one is 5500K. This one's more for a white UNCLEAR look like daylight.
The Yongnuo YN360 also comes with this magnetic filter that you can put over the light to bring more orange or warm tones for your scene. If you want, you can change and add or mix both of these colors together.
If you set all of them to 99, it's definitely going to give you more light and it's super bright. On the top right, you're going to see the battery life indicator. If it reads P9, it's full. If it reads P1, the power is almost done.
On the side, you have fine and you have coarse. If you press the fine, you're going to be able to control the amount of light more precisely, and if you put coarse, you're going to be able to jump ten levels at a time. This way, you can increase or decrease your light very fast if you need to.
The YONGNUO YN360II is the first LED video light equipped with built-in battery. It adopts high quality battery with super capacity of 5200mAh. It just takes 80 minutes for the battery to reach 80% capacity on quick charge mode. The light source adopts RGB full color patch lamps and 5500k color temperature lamp beads.
As you know, the Yongnuo YN360 is RGB, so you have the ability and the power to mix and create your own colors. It is very handy especially because it comes with an app. After you download the app, it is very easy to use.
You just have to turn on your Bluetooth and your device should be able to connect.
When you open the app, you're going to be able to see a lot of c's because you have a lot of channels. For example, if I have 5 YN360 lights and I turn on all of them, I'm able to control all of them separately. You are able to change the power right there as well. You're able to turn them on and off, and if you go to the side, you're going to be able to see the color wheel.
In that section, you're going to be able to pick and choose the colors that you want, but keep in mind that the power that you're going to get when you pick your own color is not as bright or as powerful as the 200K or 5500K.
The price is about $89 (prices may change). Keep in mind that the battery is not going to be included, but you can get some for a very cheap price.
Watch a demonstration from 3:34 to 4:14. You will notice that the light is very quick to respond to the app commands.
The only downside of the Yongnuo YN360 is that the power button is on the other side, so if I want to leave it on a surface, turn off your light because the battery is very heavy. Just keep that in mind.
That's pretty much it. It's a very nice investment for me. Again, it doesn't mean that it's the best fit for you, but if you want to look or learn a little bit about light, thank you very much for watching this video.
