Hello everyone. This is Alex from Tech Liner, and today, we will do a review of the best micro speakers in the market. In front of me, I have the best of the best micro speakers. We will see, which one will dominate the competition and win the award of the best micro speaker. I have the Anker Soundcore Mini 3 Pro, LG XBOOM Go PL2, Sony XB13, JBL Clip 4, Wonderboom 2, and finally, Bose SoundLink Micro.

What's in the box?

For starters, I will be talking about what's included in the box. All of them have similar stuff, like the USB cable and the manual. However, only the Bose SoundLink Micro and Wonderboom 2 still use the old micro USB cable, which is a shame because those are the most expensive ones.

Weight

Play from here [1:21]

Since these are portable speakers, I have to talk about weight. We start with the JBL Clip 4 for being the lightest at 239 grams, followed by the Sony XB13 and Anker Soundcore Mini 3 Pro for being almost 250 grams. Next is Bose SoundLink Micro with 290 grams, LG XBOOM Go PL2 with 320 grams, and the heaviest, the Wonderboom 2 with 426 grams.

Ports

Play from here [1:52]

None of the six speakers has a 3.5mm port except for the LG XBOOM Go PL2. It's not really a big deal since those speakers are meant for Bluetooth use in the first place. It's a nice addition from LG to stay old fashioned and keep some extras, which remind me, LG didn't dump the headphone jack from their phones too until the end.

Power Output

Play from here [2:19]

All of the speakers have a power output of 5 watts, except for the Anker Soundcore Mini 3 Pro, which has the advantage of being 6 watts.

Bluetooth Connectivity

Play from here [2:29]

When it comes to Bluetooth connectivity, the speakers feature different technologies. Sony XB13, Bose SoundLink Micro, and Wonderboom 2 uses Bluetooth 4.2. Anker Soundcore Mini 3 Pro and LG XBOOM Go PL2 uses Bluetooth 5.0. Only the JBL Clip 4 features the most advanced technology among them, which is Bluetooth 5.1. However, it's the only speaker that connects with only one device at a time.

Latency

Play from here [2:58]

Regarding latency, I didn't notice any kind of latency on the LG XBOOM Go PL2, Anker Soundcore Mini 3 Pro, JBL Clip 4, and Sony XB13. On the other hand, I did notice some delay when watching videos on the Bose SoundLink Micro and Wonderboom 2, keeping in mind that they are relatively more expensive.

Waterproofing

Play from here [3:17]

It's also worth mentioning that they are all waterproof speakers, so feel comfortable to take any of the speakers to a pool party.

Battery Life

Play from here [3:26]

In a party, you need a speaker that will last you more than a few hours. Starting from the best to the worst, the JBL Clip 4 will last you around 8 hours, followed by Bose SoundLink Micro, LG XBOOM Go PL2, and Wonderboom 2 with 6 hours, Sony XB13 with 5 hours, and last but not least, Anker Soundcore Mini 3 Pro with 4 hours.

Price

Note: All prices mentioned here can change.

Quickly going through prices, the Anker Soundcore Mini 3 Pro retails at around $50, LG XBOOM Go PL2 at about $70, Sony XB13 at the region of $80, JBL Clip 4 at around $100, Bose SoundLink Micro and Wonderboom 2 at about $130. Enough with the talking. Let's see which one is the best.

The Verdict

Play from here [8:44]

To conclude this video, I think the "Tech Liner Award" for the loudest speaker goes to the Wonderboom 2. It has the loudest sound by far, and none of the others are even close. The "Best Value for Money Award" goes to the Soundcore Mini 3 Pro by Anker because this speaker performed almost as good as the rest, but at the lowest price. The Tech Liner award for the "King of the Speakers" goes to the JBL Clip 4 for having almost the best of everything from sound quality to the price. This is the speaker that I'm going to use when I'm doing photoshoots.
