When you open up the packaging, the first thing you're going to see is an extremely nice Weeylite carrying bag. It's really nice, too nice. First off, you got your light. You have the actual Ninja 200 in its total glory. It looks absolutely beautiful. If you look closely, you can tell there is an adjustable mount angle, so whichever way you want the light to point, you can do that with a full 300 degrees. It goes almost all the way around, so you can do almost pretty much what you want with it. It's really small, and it feels almost handheld. If you take a look at the bracket, you can see the mount adapter for either a light stand or the handle that's included. Just like you would a regular light stand, you can go ahead and just screw it on.

You can hold it any way you want. I personally hold the Ninja 200 like a Nerf. Yeah, you know what I mean? This is a game changer for me. I can't think of any light that I have ever had that I can just hold with one hand, aim it at my subject while somebody else is filming, and that's really cool. Along in the box, you do get the added little cone that comes with it. It's an easy assembly. I've already put it on, and now I can use it like a spotlight, or I can use the added softbox that I have already assembled, and I'm not going to reassemble because this is a pain. I'm sorry.

Next comes the power adapter, which you are probably going to use if you do not have batteries. If you do have batteries like me, this comes with an adapter, which is something new on Weeylite's lights. It screws on to the side of the light with two quarter-inch screws, just like a regular tripod. Just place the batteries in, plug in the added cable that comes with the packaging as well, and you are good to go. If you point it at yourself, close your eyes, because this does get very bright. I'm pretty much done here. Let me go outside and test the Ninja 200 with you.

Handling

I'm outside, and I brought the Ninja 200 with me. I have it on a regular light stand. I'm sure you have 100 of those at home. Something I've noticed on a traditional stand, it does wobble a little bit. You really have to find that sweet spot and then screw it in. I truly believe that it is intended to be on the handle, but unfortunately, there are markings and dents already on the handle. In my opinion, there should be like a rubber ending on the screw. As far as handling goes, on the handle, it does perform very well. Here's me actually hand holding it at a shoot I went to the other day. I am maneuvering it from side to side very cleanly. Once it was firmly placed, it did not wiggle at all, and I actually had a really good experience with it. But that's enough of handling.

The Specs

Let's get to the specs. The Weeylite Ninja 200 is a 60-watt COB light. Chip On Board, means that the lights, the LEDs themselves, are actually packed close together, which together creates a much brighter and more efficient light. As far as other specs go, this does have a 2500 to 8500 Kelvin, and in a photography and videography sense, that allows you to get different hues of light without having to change the color of the sun because, well, you can't really do that. One of the things I do love about the Weeylite lights is their actual ease of use. This LCD display does allow you to check your brightness, your Kelvin, and what channel or mode you are on. Unlike some other lights, this light actually does start off at 1%, instead of others starting off at other levels of brightness. It does go all the way up to 100%, and you will definitely feel that 100%.

All right, so maybe you're trying to light up your scene, your YouTube studio, whatever you're doing or you're doing a broadcast, this is what the light looks like maxed out at 850 Kelvin. This is what the light looks like at 75%, 50%, 25%, and then this is 0%. Clearly, the Ninja 200 is definitely helping the scene out.

Watch the footage from 5:40 to 6:08.

As I mentioned earlier, I did actually go on a video/photoshoot the other day, and I brought the Ninja 200 with me. In this scene, I was trying to go for a split lighting with the shadows, and I was trying to create shadows behind her. Essentially, what this does is when you speed it up, it creates a trippy/warpy effect. Shout out to Matt Salsado for filming this. He was the one behind the camera while I was moving to light. I just got to say, this is incredible. Obviously, you can use any light for this. Technically you could use a panel light, but the ease of use and the flexibility with this light is literally what sold it for me. I am literally dumbfounded looking at this footage. I mean, wow.

Watch the footage from 6:09 to 6:25.

Here, I was in downtown Houston using the Ninja 200 as a spotlight. Here, I was following Matt while he records. This can definitely be a one-handed job, but you will get tired after probably a few minutes, so I'd highly recommend eventually switching it to two hands, and you should be good.

Watch the footage from 6:26 to 6:56.

Here, I was actually holding a strobe with only one hand, and I did manage to get some photos one-handed. Here they are. This Ninja 200 absolutely blew my expectations out the water, whether it was the diffusion of light or the color-accuracy. Obviously, that's in the editing, but I will definitely be using this as my main light. Whether it's portraits, action sports, or still shots, I will definitely be using this light in the future.

To answer the final question, who would actually use the Ninja 200? Well, photographers and videographers. You could use this for weddings and for portraits. Honestly, it's a light, so literally, the sky is the limit. As I said earlier, I will definitely be using this for portraits and probably my YouTube videos. It's a no-brainer. This is my new baby. I love it. Shout out to Weeylite for sending me this. I love you all.
